Tiny sensor IC for incremental optical encoders

PREMA IC PR5301

This sensor IC has been developed for use in linear and rotary encoders. The tiny DFN package allows compact PCBs and does not require an additional reticle. Presently three different resolutions can be obtained:

  • PR5301-050 for 50 lpi resolution
  • PR5301-150 for 150 lpi resolution
  • PR5301-300 for 300 lpi resolution

The photodiodes are covered by an antireflective coating that enables a high sensitivity even for low LED currents. The PR5301 operates best with red or near-infrared light.
