Opto-ASICs

PREMA Photodiodes

Photodiodes with application-specific integrated circuits

PREMA ASICs can combine photodiodes with electronics to monolithic OptoASICs.

Photodiodes with variable sizes and shapes are connected to amplifiers, comparators and other circuits, resulting in an opto-electronic system on one chip. Both single-ended and differential solutions are commonly used. Different types of photodiodes result in different spectral sensitivities.

Efficient photodiodes with low dark currents and a high signal-to-noise ratio form the basis for outstanding performance of PREMA's OptoASICs.

Application examples:

  • infrared data receiver with photodiode, bandpass filter, variable-gain amplifier and comparator
  • IC for linear encoders with a resolution of 300 lines per inch
  • four-quadrant photodiodes for measuring the movement of a light beam
  • ambient light sensor with two-wire interface, where the supply current is proportional to the light intensity
